Jaouad studied law at Leiden University and completed the master’s degree in Civil Law in 2014. At the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, he completed the LL.M. Public International Law Cum Laude in 2015. In 2023, Jaouad completed the Grotius specialization course in Labor Law Cum Laude.


Jaouad has been an attorney since September 2015. He started his career as an employment law attorney at Loyens & Loeff. He has been with De Clercq since September 2021.

Daily practice

Jaouad advises and litigates for large (international) companies on employment law issues, including collective and individual dismissal, reorganizations, mergers, transfer of undertaking, terms and conditions of employment and disability. Jaouad is a specialist in the field of flexible and cross-border employment. He regularly collaborates with foreign lawyers when the case requires it. Knowledge sharing is an important part of his practice: including elaborating on legal issues for academic journals and lecturing at educational institutions and various (international) networks.

Guidance on European restructuring
Advice and guidance on a European restructuring leading to a reorganization in several European countries, working with several European lawyers.

Setting up remote working
Advising on the set-up and legal implications of long-term remote working from different European countries, whether or not as a self-employed person, during which we worked together with several foreign lawyers and tax specialists.

Guidance during reorganization
Advice and assistance during a reorganization in which a social plan was negotiated at the collective level with the works council and trade unions, and at the individual level the employer was assisted in the negotiations with individual employees.

European transfer of undertaking
Assisting in an advisory process and further steps in the context of a cross-border transfer of undertaking involving several foreign lawyers.

Advising large-scale reorganization within the government
Advising the works council during a major reorganization, including the implementation.

Litigation on the position of trade unions in employment conditions
The entrepreneur asked us to litigate about maintaining the company’s own terms and conditions of employment, without mandatory consultation with the trade unions.
