Education and career
Sonja studied law at Leiden University. During her bachelor’s course she not only followed an honours programme, but also obtained the ‘Diploma in Legal Studies’ at the University of Oxford. In 2020 Sonja completed the masters in Business Law and European Law. After completing several internships and working as a paralegal in a law firm, Sonja joined De Clercq in September 2020.
Sonja’s daily practice
“The corporate law practice really suits me. It is a broad and varied area of law with often complex legal issues, ranging from mergers, acquisitions and restructurings to internal and corporate disputes. In order to properly advise clients and support colleagues, I want to thoroughly examine all aspects of a case. On that basis, we can assess the case legally and determine how to achieve the best result for the client. In short: plenty of dynamism!
