Data breaches and airlines: lessons learned!

Last February a severe cyberattack occurred at SITA, one of the world’s largest aviation IT-providers, and just recently Transavia was fined by the Dutch Data Protection Authority in connection with a 2019 hack. Data breaches indeed can have major consequences for airlines. For the Board of Airline Representatives In the Netherlands (BARIN), Jeroen van Helden and Menno de Wijs made a succinct study of recent cyber incidents in the aviation industry and the lessons that can be learned from them.
