Caroline van Niekerk

Caroline van Niekerk works as a junior civil-law notary at De Clercq. Always keen to find tailored solutions to issues in relation to the law of succession, the law relating to property held in common ownership, inheritance tax and gift tax, Caroline can thus be of excellent service to you in these areas, in each phase of your life.

Education and career

Caroline completed her studies in Dutch law (majoring in Civil Law) in 1997, followed two years later by the Notarial Law study programme. She also successfully completed her training as an Estate Planning Specialist. Before joining De Clercq in 2016, Caroline worked at a medium-sized firm of civil-law notaries and an internationally-oriented firm of lawyers and civil-law notaries. From 2011-2015, Caroline taught notarial civil law and tax subjects to students, financial planners, tax consultants and junior civil-law notaries.

Caroline’s daily practice

‘Since the start of my career, I have focused intensively on all facets of notarial practice. Within this broad area, I am particularly interested in matrimonial property law, the law of succession and estate planning. I can therefore give you excellent advice in matters including the choice of the correct living will, last will and testament and/or drafting a prenuptial agreement. In doing so, I always look for the perfect balance between the legal consequences and savings on gift and inheritance tax in line with your requirements. I often advise private individuals directly, but accountants also know where to find me for their clients.’
